Description of the active ingredients of the drug Somatropin
pharmachologic effect
Recombinant growth hormone, identical in composition and effects to pituitary human growth hormone. It is a polypeptide of 191 amino acids. The biological activity is approximately 3 IU/mg. Stimulates the growth of the skeleton and increase in body weight, stimulates the transport of amino acids into the cell, accelerating intracellular protein synthesis and thereby exhibiting an anabolic effect. Causes a delay in the body of nitrogen, mineral salts (calcium, phosphorus, sodium) and fluid. Raises the content of glucose in the blood.
Indications
Growth hormone deficiency in the body (pituitary dwarfism, pituitary dwarfism), chronic renal failure in children, accompanied by growth retardation, Shereshevsky-Turner syndrome.
Dosing regimen
Set individually. Usually injected s / c at 0.07-0.1 IU / kg 1 time / day, and in some cases – 0.14-0.2 IU / kg every other day.
Side effect
From the endocrine system: hyperglycemia, increased symptoms of hypothyroidism.
Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, increased antibody titer to somatropin.
Other: headache, swelling.
Local reactions: soreness, redness at the injection site.
Contraindications
Malignant neoplasms, pregnancy, lactation, hypersensitivity to somatropin.

Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
special instructions
Do not use in patients with completed bone growth.
Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus (requires control of blood sugar levels and, if necessary, an increase in the dose of insulin). Insufficiency of thyroid function may reduce the effectiveness of somatropin. If a hypothyroid state develops, thyroid hormones should be administered.
